Evaluation: In my opinion, I don't like the way this store smells. The only reason to go to this specific store is it's location. No other stores like it in the immediate area.

Notes On buying at Dollar Stores

Dollar stores are like shopping at a continuous garage sale; everything is cheap because someone didn't want it.

What goes out for sale at a Dollar store?
Most of what you see at a dollar store is either closeouts, seconds, short-shelf-life, knockoffs or overstock.

Closeouts - when a store closes, they will sell off their remaining inventory at a loss (pennies on the dollar)

Seconds -imperfect items. Mistake items that are not quite good enough to put in your average store, but still usable. Examples: Misspelled product title, missing emblems, etc.

Short-shelf-life - an item that is close to (or past) its expiration date.

Knockoffs - an imitation item of a known brand.

Overstock - regular items that were either over-ordered or over-produced and sold off at a loss. These may or may not have their original brand name.

Things to watch out for...

Short or past expiration dates – the packaging may look good, but the contents may be spoiled.

International products – other countries don’t have the same restrictions on food. They may contain undesirable contents including chemicals, radiation, pesticides …

Defects – the product may look good in the package, but may not be so out of the package. Bad workmanship, rough or sharp edges …

Cheap knockoffs – Products that look like the real thing, but are cheap shadows of the original. For example: perfumes that are petroleum based.

Bad Ideas when dollar store shopping:

Don’t buy a gift for a friend and pretend you spent money on it. You may like the item, but they may notice the quality or lack of same.

Don’t buy items with tags and attempt to return them to the original store. FRAUD IS BAD.
